Elegant performance - 2009 Chrysler 300C SRT8 sedan
Boasting some 55 more horses under the hood than the new next-generation 5.7L HEMI V8, the Chrysler 300 C SRT8 sedan packages a prime mover with the highest specific output ever offered by the Chrysler Group. The performance sedan achieves zero-to-sixty mph in the low-five-second range.
For 2009, the 300C SRT8 sedan receives a new front grille, standard sunroof and a new exterior color: Deep Water Blue Clear Coat, which replaces Steel Blue. Additionally, the performance Chrysler sedan is equipped with new anti-lock braking and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) calibrations; new suspension tuning involving the knuckle, shock valve and ESP calibrations and improved fuel economy.
The increased torque of the 6.1L HEMI V8 prime mover is communicated to the pavement through a W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission with specially calibrated AutoStick driver-selectable range control, which offers fully automatic or manual shifting selection. A heavy-duty four-flange pro shaft sends the torque from the transmission to an upgraded differential and axle.
On the road, the SRT8's acceleration is awesome, intense and immediate. Drop the pedal and the large American sedan moves out -- quick. Handling and control are tight with an endless fluid band of power at the driver's beck and call.
The chassis set-up for the SRT8 features a number of enhancements over the standard 300 sedan that includes tuned dampers, specially tuned spring rates and suspension bushings and larger-diameter anti-sway bars. Special front and rear suspension knuckles contribute to a ride height lowered one-half and inch from the regular Chrysler 300C. Beefy 20-inch tires front and rear feature asymmetrical tread.
Exterior modifications include front and rear fascias that help direct air flow, particularly through unique brake ducts that help cool the brakes, a specially designed rear deck spoiler that increases downforce by 39 percent without increasing drag and unique SRT badging.
Inside the cabin, the cockpit layout functions as an extension of the driver! An optional navigation system, Bluetooth wireless technology and Sirius satellite radio adds to the experience. SRT8 is equipped with a tastefully upgraded interior -- with heated perforated suede/leather seats that feature supportive side bolsters. The center console features dual cupholders and two power points. The center stack dashboard has a deep storage bin. The back seat is roomy, comfortable and supportive. The large trunk features additional below floor storage space.
