Rugged Functionality: 2016 Audi Allroad
The 2016 Audi allroad blends rugged functionality with premium car refinements and advanced driver assistance technologies. Available in Premium and Premium Plus trim levels, changes and enhancements for 2016 include: three-spoke multifunction, leather-wrapped steering wheel on Premium; Audi connect added to the Navigation plus package on Premium model; Bang & Olufsen® Sound System added to the Technology package on Premium Plus model; and advanced key optional on Premium.
The allroad reflects Audi’s exterior design language, with a Singleframe grille featuring angled upper corners in front, along with slender Xenon-plus headlights and LED light strip accents. Circular front fog lights complete the “face” of the allroad. At the rear, LED taillights make the vehicle easily seen in all kinds of weather and circular dual exhausts on each side finish the rear look. Stainless steel skid plates, raised roof rails and a standard power tailgate add to the vehicle’s functionality. The raised suspension provides some 7.1 inches of ground clearance.
Power for the allroad is generated by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Torque is communicated through the wheels via an eight-speed Tuptronic automatic transmission. The automaker’s legendary quattro all-wheel drive is standard.
The control hardware provides for the kind of crisp handling that drivers expect from Audi. A five-link front suspension is at the front with a trapezoidal-link suspension at the rear.
Inside the passenger cabin, Audi coddles driver and passengers alike in leather seating surfaces. Front seat occupants enjoy eight-way power seats with the driver’s seat also equipped with a four-way lumbar adjustment – just the thing for comfort during long drives. The rear seat is a very useful 60/40 split. Comfort in the allroad also includes a three-zone automatic climate control system as well as a driver information system, an Audi music interface with iPod integration, SD card slot with 32GB operating capacity and a rain/light sensor for automatic windshield wipers and headlight operation.
A voice control system that controls the function of cellphone, CD, radio and navigation systems is an available option and includes a speech to text function.
